Creating “Paint me Love” – commission artwork

I present to you a project, the implementation of which brought me great pleasure in all its aspects – from communicating with the client, through the creation process, to the arrangement of the picture in the interior. “Paint Me Love” is a commissioned oil painting that I created for a specific location and is my largest commission of a female figure to date. The whole project lasted one year.

When we started discussing the commission, the client and her husband had already purchased several of my other paintings. She was already familiar with the process of commissioning a painting (the article The Artistic Challenge can be read here and the rest of the details of how to commission an Acrista Art painting are in the FAQ on acrista.com) and we went straight to discussing which series / painting of mine we would be the inspiration for hers.

After she said that she really likes the painting “Dreamed”, we commented on what the color and design changes would be. That was the starting point for the idea. Since the desired canvas was intended for the common space of a dining room and a living room, she sent me the elegant project for the interior by architect Milena Dobreva from Ona Design, who served as the basis and inspiration for the colour range.

We determined the size of the picture 60 x 140 cm from its position, which we knew in advance and the location of the other elements around it – the light fixture, the upper edge of the windows, the light switches and the height of the small cabinet below. Once we had the size, we could also move on to choosing a frame to specify the size of the canvas itself (outside-in approach).

At this stage I could already start working on the conceptual design for the painting. I usually only do one study, but in this case I developed two ideas, with slight design differences. After the client aproved the first option, I selected the colour scheme. The colour we definitely wanted to include was the green, which was present in the interior of some of the furniture. Since it is a very specific shade, I decided not to use it as a dominant colour, but only for the flowers in the wreath.

The approved study in colours and the frames – we had the option of an ecru and black frame, but settled on the black case frame with a satin finish, which matched the dark elements of the interior.

The beginning: the painting is almost as big as my easel 🙂
As there were areas of heavy impasto when it was finished, I gave the painting a few months to dry very well before applying the final satin varnish.
While the painting was drying at my studio, I had the chance to enjoy her for a while 🙂

“Paint Me Love” is now in the elegant home, project of architect Milena Dobreva from Ona Design. It will be part of the exhibition material I am preparing for the fall of 2025 and I hope you can enjoy it there.

I am truly happy with the end result.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for the trust and patience of my clients, as well as the creative freedom they gave me – projects like this make commissioning a painting a real pleasure for me! 🙂
